Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026

NorthCart helps you find good deals at Canadian stores. We collect as little information as we can, we don't sell your data, and you can browse without an account.

If you browse without an account

Nothing you do is tied to you. When the app loads deals, our servers see standard request details such as your IP address and app version. We use these only to run and protect the service, not to track you.

We count deal views and taps on shopping links as anonymous totals, so we can tell which deals are useful. These counts are not linked to you or your device.

Your swipe deck

In Swipe mode, NorthCart learns which kinds of deals you like from your swipes, plus any interests you pick. That history is stored only on your phone and is never sent to us. You can clear it any time in Profile, Reset recommendations.

Your swipes only change which deals you see first. They don't change a deal's NorthScore.

Sale reminders

If you ask to be reminded about a sale, the reminder is scheduled on your phone. We don't receive or store which reminders you set.

If you create an account

An account is only needed for a watchlist and price-drop alerts. We store:

• Your email address, used to send sign-in codes
• The products you watch and the price you started watching at
• Items you like in the swipe deck, so we can tell you when they get cheaper
• Your alert settings and the alerts we have sent you
• A notification token for your phone, only if you turn on notifications
• Any deal you report as expired or wrong

What we never do

• We never sell or rent your data
• We show no ads and use no advertising or tracking SDKs
• We never access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone
• Commissions never affect a deal's NorthScore or which deals we show

Shopping links

When you tap a link to buy, you leave NorthCart and go to the store's website (currently Amazon.ca), where that store's privacy notice applies. NorthCart may earn a commission on purchases made through these links. As an Amazon Associate, NorthCart earns from qualifying purchases. The store may use cookies to credit the referral to us. Stores don't tell us who you are or anything about your account with them. Their reports show us which items were bought through our links, but not who bought them.

Price data

Prices and price history come from Keepa, a price tracking service. No personal information is sent to Keepa.

Video reviews from YouTube

Some deals show review videos found with YouTube API Services. Thumbnails load from YouTube, and if you play a video, it plays in YouTube's player in privacy-enhanced mode. NorthCart doesn't send YouTube anything about you or your account.

By watching these videos you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service (youtube.com/t/terms). Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) applies to what YouTube collects.

Premium subscriptions

If you subscribe to Premium, Apple handles the payment. We use RevenueCat to confirm your subscription with Apple. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipt and an anonymous account ID, never your name or card details.

Service providers and where data is stored

Your account data is stored with Supabase, which hosts our database (in Canada) and sign-in system. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend, which receives your email address and the code, and is based in the United States. Some of these services process data outside Canada, so your data may be subject to the laws of other countries. Our database is encrypted in transit and at rest. If you turn on notifications, alerts are delivered through Expo's push service and Apple's. They receive the alert text and your phone's notification token, nothing else.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile, Delete account. It takes effect immediately and removes your email address, watchlist, likes, alerts, reports and notification tokens. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten.

Children

NorthCart is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
